Things I said Alhumdulillah for in May…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulilah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in May:

  1. Spending time cleaning my home, it gives me so much joy! Especially when there’s Zoflora around. I created a quick little reel showing the different ways I use the disinfectant around the house. watch it here!
  2. Celebrating Master Z turning 7 years old! We had a little cake cutting sesh at home. I also wrote my annual birthday letter I wrote for him, read it here.
  3. Celebrating Eid ul Fitr the next day with family. I had made a few Eid sweet treats which all turned out pretty delicious (phew) and we enjoyed some dinners out over the long 5 day weekend. May we be blessed to expereince another Ramadan next year In sha Allah.
  4. Sushi for dinner! Also, love that Master Z is just as obsessed with sushi as I am….Little Z is yet to be converted.
  5. For the blessings in life that sometimes we may take for granted…simple things like having good health, a roof over our home, the safety of my family and kids…all things that Palestinians are currently struggling with. This month I have learnt so much about their plight and my heart breaks to see their struggle, whilst at the same time making me so grateful for all that I do have.
  6. Finally switching the hosting for this blog website from Bluehost to a local company that is much cheaper! Also, Sijn from CraftSpot was extremely helpful and went above and beyond in providing an excellent service, which is highly appreicated when I absolutely detest doing all the blog admin/ technical stuff!
  7. Experiencing “being Van Gogh” at the Thetre of Digital Arts in Madinat Jumeirah. The show was amazing, immersive and mesmerising, and it was nice to be on my own for an hour taking it all in.
  8. Doing little beads crafts from Ikea with my boys. Strangely therapeutic and so much fun getting creative with it too!
  9. Mr Z heading to Abu Dhabi for a work trip and returning safe and sound. The boys enjoyed sleeping over in the big bed whilst he was gone! haha! I am not sure I enjoyed it as much, with all the limbs flying everywhere!
  10. The hot hot weather, because at least my laundry gets dry within minutes!

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in May last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
