Alhumdulillah Series

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in June…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulilah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in June:

  1. Meeting up with a friend to do some crafts at her home. It was lovely to see my kids playing so well with her kids, and I think more play dates are definitely needed.
  2. Air Con! When my husband’s car AC stopped working for a couple of days, it truly made riding in his car in the 40+ degrees heat quite unbearable! Alhumdulillah for cool air with the press of a button.
  3. Going ice skating, as a family of four for the first time at Dubai Ice Rink in Dubai Mall. Little Z mainly enjoyed being whizzed around in the seal skating aid, whilst the rest of us skated, hands out trying our best not to fall flat on our faces! It was so much fun!
  4. Delicious, sweet, finger-licking Sindhri Mangoes! Yum Yum Yum!
  5. Watching Master Z enjoy being a little scientist, playing with pipettes and beakers in the Henken Lab at Children’s City. I am sure we will be back during the summer holidays as they have some great interactive exhibits for kids.
  6. Attending Master Z’s PTM (Parent Teacher Meeting) online and hearing only great things about his efforts, making my heart swell with pride. His end of Year 1 report was fantastic to read, especially after such a challenging year with blended learning. Bring on Year 2!
  7. Receiving orders for Father’s Day and then hearing how much my clients enjoyed their personal family doodle commissions. I do a little happy dance every time! Here is my business Instagram page if you fancy seeing some of my recent work or would like to place an order yourself: @mummyonmymindstore
  8. Attending Little Z’s online Orientation for FS1. I can’t still get my head around the fact that he will be starting school in September. I have written more about my worries here.
  9. Treating myself to a facial after YEARS! my skin hasn’t been doing great lately, and I knew I had to let a professional deal with it. The fact that I was able to relax for 2 hours away from kids was a total bonus! ha!
  10. 28th June marks 3 years since I bought my car , lovingly named “Zippy”. I may only do the school run in it, as directions are not my strong point, but I do still absolutely love her! Anyone else name their car?
  11. Watching my boys learn and play through the Islamic app Miraj Stories. Here is my indepth review of the app, and here’s a discount link if you would like to download it for your little ones with up to 30% off their subscriptions.
  12. Seeing wedding preps well underway through whatsapp for my cousin’s wedding back in Leicester, UK. I so wish we could have been there to be part of the celebrations, but alas still waiting for UAE to be removed from UK’s Red List!

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in June last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
