Things I said Alhumdulillah for in January…
Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.
Things I said Alhumdulillah for in January:
- Little Z turned 5, MashaAllah! As always, I wrote him a little letter on his Birthday which you can read here, and we celebrated with some cake and gifts at home!
- We headed to the mountains to soak in the beautiful Winter weather. The view was just insane and the boys got to feed the ducks on the way too!
- Attending Math Day at school with Master Z where he dressed up as a little Egyptian.
- Barbeque evening with the family. We decided to take a gas stove for the first time but it failed miserably (pretty much setting itself on fire and melting it’s own hardware). However, we were so grateful when a stranger offered up their own gas stove so we could carry on cooking. Faith in humanity restored.
- We got to experience and watch one of the ILT20 cricket games, supporting the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders. Watch a snippet of it here.
- A day with the family in Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, going on all the crazy rides and being high on adrenaline. I’m pretty sure I lost my voice that night…sign of a good day right?
- Rainy days, woollen socks, blankets and hot chocolate with my boys. Perfect.
- The success of a HUGE thing which I haven’t shared just yet with the online family, but it has us jumping up and down in excitement, whilst also making us very nervous! It’s a whole bag of emotions, but a new journey and adventure awaits!
- Reading Prince Harry’s book – Spare. I have a lot of thoughts about it, but ultimately it’s a hard hitting and heavy book about grief and trauma.
- The stray cat in our neighbourhood becoming besties with my boys who are absolutely smitten with the cat and have named it Feline. I, on the other hand, am still a little scared of animals in general so usually admire them from a distance of about 5 metres away whilst my children are giving the cat a belly rub!
These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in January last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
