Alhumdulillah Series

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in December…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in December:

  1. Visiting the Sheikh Zayed Mosque with the family. A lot has changed since our last visit and it’s definitely more tourist-centric, but it was nice to be able to pray Zuhr namaz inside.
  2. Celebrating UAE’s National Day with a trip to Abu Dhabi, exploring Yas Mall and getting henna done on my hand.
  3. Picnic at the beach with card games and sand castles.
  4. Finally uploading my second vlog of our travel to Jeddah and Riyadh in the summer. You can watch it here. Hope you enjoy the watch!
  5. Revisiting Expo City to see it being turned into a Winter Wonderland. It’s so strange to be back at the Expo site, but with no more pavillions to visit. The kids loved seeing the Water feature again, and I loved to sit under the Al Wasl dome again.
  6. Enjoying a play date in OliOli, where the kids thoroughly tired themselves out, followed by lunch and recording the kid’s reactions to an automatic car wash. Can it get better than this? ha!
  7. Spending a day in Old Dubai, drinking sugar cane juice and taking an Abra ride.
  8. Celebrating Mr Z’s birthday with a family lunch and then watching the Fifa Final match at home. Congratulations to Argentina! Watching Messi hold the World Cup wearing a Bisht will remain an iconic image.
  9. Getting more touristy things ticked off our bucket list like a visit to Qasr Al Watan (Palace of Nations) and the Museum of the Future, as well as an obligatory annual trip to Global Village and stuffing our faces with snacks from all around the world.
  10. Enjoying our first BBQ of the winter season just before a couple of days of rain. Like proper chucking it down kind of rain, not the drizzle we had last year! Hello Sweater weather!!!
  11. Having a huge clear of clothes, shoes, bags and toys. Also can’t recommend the services of Kiswa enough, who come and take away all your items and even reward you with cash! #HappyCustomer
  12. Ending the year 2022 with plans to snuggle up in bed with a family movie and my boys. Hope everyone has an excellent New Year’s Eve and an amazing 2023 ahead.

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in December last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
