Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August…

Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.

Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August:

  1. Celebrating turning 31 years old with my family. Alhumdulillah for another year of health and happiness.
  2. Hosting my friends over at my place for lunch and a catch up.
  3. Mr Z being offered his first job in the UK. I am so proud of him, and how he overcame all the struggles he faced to find his place in the sector he excels in. Well Done Mr Z!
  4. Visiting Battersea Powerstation, which has been turned into London’s newest shopping destination.
  5. Celebrating 10 years of marriage Alhumdulillah! Can’t believe it’s been a decade of Mr Z and I being married!
  6. Watching the boys have waterbomb fights in the garden and making the most of the summer sunshine! Also, long walks and bike rides have been almost a daily occurrence this month!
  7. Digging into Halal Mcdonalds thanks to my parents flight back home being via Dubai!
  8. Watching the FIFA Women’s World Cup with the family, followed by a delicious BBQ meal. Eventhough England lost the final against Spain, it was a great match to watch and boys thoroughly enjoyed the excitement. This reel I created in celebration sure attracted some negative energy but I have blocked them out!
  9. Back to school shopping and labeling every item of clothing! Expensive for sure when you have two boys but still lots cheaper compared to Dubai! phew!
  10. Getting more confident driving around Leicester, even though I probably still prefer driving in Dubai and find it much easier there compared to the UK! Also, bigger streets sure help!
  11. Enjoying the bank holiday weekend with a family visit to London, this time exploring Greenwich area and then taking a boat ride all the way to Westminister. The tour guide was absolutely hillarious and had us rolling over with laughter at his commentary as we made our way through London on the waters.
  12. First day of school for the boys, feeling ALL the emotions! For them to start school in a whole new country, with a new school system, new teachers, new friends and plenty more new adventures took a lot of bravery but they did an amazing job! I was probably more of a wreck than they were! haha!

These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in August last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
