A Letter to Little Z on his Fourth Birthday…
Today you are 4 years old! How you have grown in just the last year! Although Covid-19 is still rife around the world, UAE being such a safe place and with lower numbers, we were able to venture out and explore some new places with you after a year of being at home.
You discovered your love for Apple Juice along with eating your first McDonalds cheese burger, though you still enjoy their McNuggets from time to time. You love bubble baths, give the slimiest of kisses, lego building, watching through binoculars, and colouring. Your love of puzzles continues to grow too and you want to copy pretty much everything your big brother does. The swimming pool and water parks are amongst your favourite places and boy do you have some crazy dance moves!
Your “r”s are still pronounced as “l”s such as “led” rather than the colour red, which is just the cutest. You chatter non stop and love taking a toy with you to bed most nights. You are never without a toy car in your hand or sunglasses on your face. Your favourite foods include Pesto Pasta, Chicken & Chaawal (rice), Cheese Manakeesh and will turn your nose up at anything that includes “fruits” (a.k.a veggies). You have a sweet tooth like your mummy, and will never say no to cake! You adore cats and keep asking if we can take one home whenever you see any stray cats. You had your first dentist appointment in the summer and it went incredibly well, possibly because you were watching Paw Patrol on the ceiling whilst having your teeth cleaned!
After an entire summer of refusing to want to go to school, you actually fit into FS1 really well, without any tears or tantrums at all! You love going to school every morning with your big brother and cousin sister, and adore your teacher Ms Priti too. Term 1 went great for you, and I was so proud to hear how well you have done, though you need to work on your shyness and be more confident in speaking up in the class…..if only this was an issue at home!! ha!
Since school started, there are no more afternoon naps but you do nod off every time we are on a car journey lasting more than 15 minutes. Over the last year you go to visit Expo 2020 Dubai and loved the interactive pavilions and water feature, with one of your visits also being your first school field trip! Another memorable trip was going to the IPL cricket match to support India. Technically, this was your second match but you were a tiny baby and slept through the first one, so this was the first proper match you experienced and loved cheering loudly “Common Kohli!”. To end your year of being 3, we finally managed to get you on a flight to India, and you absolutely loved everything about it, playing all day with family, riding the rickshaw and scooty, horse riding on the beach and much more.
Your smile and laughter is contagious. Your are always making us laugh like the time your big brother peeled a Boiled Egg, and when seeing the white egg inside you said “What?! Another boiled egg?” , as if it was some kind of Russian Doll, one boiled egg in another and another. haha! May you live a long happy healthy life, and continue to bring happiness to all the lives you touch with your dimple smile and mischievous twinkle in your eye.
Happy Fourth Birthday, little one. Mummy and Papa love you to infinity and beyond.
