Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August…
Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulilah during the past month.
Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August:
- Turning 30 and spending the day with my boys. We also tried a new Turkish place “Masa” for lunch and it was delicious!
- Treating myself to a body massage at Burj Plaza…it was a heavenly few hours of much needed zen!
- Celebrating 9 years of being married to Mr Z!
- Heading to Makkah for Umrah, it was such a unique and amazing experience and I’m so glad we got to share it with our two boys who even managed to touch the Ka’bah. It was more special because it was Little Z’s first time in Makkah (aged 4) and Master Z’s second time (agead 8).
- The peaceful adhaan in Makkah. Here’s a snippet for you to listen to.
- Visiting Madinah for the day, made super quick thanks to the new super speed bullet train!
- Spending a day in Jeddah with family friends that I grew up with when I lived in Jeddah. It felt like time had stood still or I had traveled back in time to the 90s, having crazy DeJaVu moments as I saw things I recognised around the city from my childhood. It was surreal!
- Spending a few days in Riyadh, my birth city. It was such a pleasure to return to after almost 3 decades and discover it with new eyes. Here’s a little clip from our first day in Riyadh.
- Heading to the 99th floor of Kingdom Tower in Riyadh. The boys loved the sky observatory experience.
- Buying new Abayas for myself in the Abaya Mall!
- One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the Royal Saudi Air Force Museum. The boys loved looking at the wide range of aircrafts they had.
- The ease with which we traveled now that the boys are a little more older and more understanding. It’s still not a small task, but it does feel like it gets easier with each passing year.
- Returning home back to Dubai after our adventures in Saudi Arabia. No better feeling than falling asleep in your own bed.
- Heading to the salon for some TLC before school mayhem starts.
- Labeling and organising school gear, thankfully we are reusing most of last year’s stuff so atleast saving some money there! ha!
- First day of the new school year 2022-2023 for both my boys, heading to FS2 and Year 3, MashaAllah!
These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in August last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
