Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August 2019…
Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulilah during the past month.
Things I said Alhumdulillah for in August:
- Spending the month with both my parents and baby brother. Of course, the summer went by too quickly but being able to make memories with them, especially with both my boys, was priceless.
- Long drives where Little Z was fast asleep for half of it. THANK GOD.
- The excitement on Master Z’s face as he attended a Sushi Making class. Sushi is his favourite thing to eat so this was the best thing ever for him.
- Celebrating turning 27! Alhumdulillah!
- Celebrating Eid with the whole family. My father landed in Dubai the night before whilst the kids were in bed, so the kids only got to meet him straight after Eid prayers when all the boys returned home the next morning. Little Z began playing with his Nana straight away, though a tad shy. It definitely made for a very memorable Eid.
- Watching my mother savour her Fruit Cocktail Juice, one of those Dubai things she loves and doesn’t get to readily enjoy back in the UK. haha! Same goes for watching my brother savour Shawarma and Baklava.
- Celebrating myself and Mr Z’s 6th Wedding Anniversary MashaAllah! haha yes, August is a month filled with celebrations for us…can you tell? (There’s my parent’s wedding anniversary, my father’s birthday, my brother’s birthday and my niece’s birthday also all in the month of August!) It also means we are pretty much skint at the end of it with all the gift giving! 😛 haha!
- Hearing Little Z call out “Mama, Mama, Mama” to his Uncle A (my baby bro) continuously without a breath in between as he runs after him around the whole house.
- Being the cover girl for Ikea’s 2020 catalogue. It was great whilst it lasted…:P and the fact that only I have the copy of it! haha!
- Having my brother takeover my Instastories for 24 hours with his witty sarcastic commentary! It’s saved on my Instastories Highlights reel if you fancy watching it!
- Bidding goodbye to my parents and baby brother as they return back to the UK. This is the toughest part about being an expat, but Allah has blessed me with my wonderful boys….that sure keep me well entertained!
- Getting Back To School preps under way. Master Z will be in FS2 come September and I am so excited for him! I am less nervous than I was this time last year as he set of to big school for the first time ever, but I am still going to miss him terribly for the hours he is away from me.
These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in August last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
