Things I said Alhumdulillah for in April…
Alhumdulillah means “All Praise is due to God” and are the words uttered by a Muslim when he/she is expressing gratitude to Allah. I find myself saying this numerous times a day and this post is a collection of moments when I have said Alhumdulillah during the past month.
Things I said Alhumdulillah for in April:
- Starting our new chapter in the UK, Alhumdulillah. Our luggage all went through without any issues (that was the main thing I was nervous about) and we had a lovely flight, with both boys doing movie marathons throughout. So glad both boys are a good age now to be able to do long flights with. And then meeting my family on the other end was so fulfilling.
- Meeting the extended family members! There’s way more of them now compared to the last time I visited and some of my cousins have grown up so much too!
- Walks in the park, flower spotting, collecting sticks and acorns and breathing in allll the fresh air. We explored Abbey Park and the little pet corner which the boys loved!
- Travelling in the bus!
- First Week as UK residents was eventful. Here’s a little photo dump.
- Learning to break some habits we picked up whilst living in the UAE, but also holding on to a few that are harder to break.
- Banter with my baby brother who I can now also have deep meaningful conversations with. My boys are also obsessed with him since he is such a fun uncle and I love that they will get to spend more time together now!
- Getting used to the weather, slowly but surely. I mean it’s supposedly UK Spring but for us it’s more like Dubai peak Winter season.
- Getting ourselves registered with new bank accounts and shopping loyalty cards, and starting all the life admin stuff that comes with moving to a new country.
- Getting my boys their first Library Card at the local library and borrowing their first set of books! It was quite an emotional moment for me!
- Buying our first car and getting used to the right-hand drive.
- Making Eid biscuits with my mum and boys.
- Celebrating Eid at my parent’s house after a decade of being away! It was so much fun to see the boys open their Eid gifts, meet the entire extended family and have Eid lunch at my Mama’s (Mum’s brother) house.
- Downloading the BBC weather app, I’m told it will be my most used app and I fully believe it!
These are just a few of the many times I uttered the words Alhumdulillah this month. Check out what I was thankful for last month here. Also, here’s a list of what I was thankful for in April last year! What are you thankful for? Feel free to share your moments in the comments section below.
