Staycation at Manzil Downtown – Review….
Last weekend we had a mini Staycation at Manzil Downtown in Dubai. Who doesn’t love a staycation? A mini getaway right on your door step, and that’s exactly what it was.
You can watch the Vlog of our stay at Manzil Downtown here on Youtube.
Staycation at Manzil Downtown…
Friday morning came and we were prepared with our overnight luggage, which consisted of a travel suitcase, a couple of rucksacks, a bag of … I have no idea what but it was full. I guess I have come to terms with the fact that parents can never travel light when they have one or more kids in tow.
After offering Jummah prayers, we headed straight to check in, and were welcomed warmly by the receptionist at Manzil Downtown.
We were offered the Deluxe Bedroom, complete with all the necessary services and a stunning view of the Burj Khalifa from our window. That view simply never gets old, does it?
Once we dropped off our bags, we headed down to Brunch at Boulevard Kitchen. The spread of food was delicious and mainly Arabic cuisine. There was also a kid’s area where they could brunch, enjoy colouring activities or watch a movie. Aladdin was playing when we were there and Master Z was transfixed, which gave us a good break too.
Back in our room, Master Z enjoyed a quick nap before we all headed down to the pool in the late afternoon. As hot as it was outside, the pool itself was just the right temperature are we enjoyed a very pleasant dip as well as refreshments. We couldn’t be more relaxed, and Master Z really enjoyed splashing around.

We arrived back at our hotel room around sunset, just in time to catch a glimpse of the Dubai Fountain show from our window. After a quick refresh we headed down for dinner, as we were absolutely starving by this point.
Although we were booked in to dine at The Courtyard, which is a stunning outdoor space, under 18s were not allowed due to it being a smoking/shisha area. Therefore, we opted to dine back at the Boulevard Kitchen, this time choosing from their A La Carte menu.
After a scrumptious meal, (the fried shrimps with mango chutney are a MUST try!) we took a stroll by the Boulevard before heading to bed for a restful night’s sleep.
Next morning seemed to hurry on by, as myself and Master Z a lovely lie in (shocking, I know!) whilst Mr Z used the gym early in the morning that is open 24 hours a day. We lazily headed to breakfast once he returned and relaxed back in our room, watching cartoons and movies before enjoying lunch once again in Boulevard Kitchen.
I ordered the Cheese Toasty (with a VERY generous helping of cheddar cheese), whilst Mr Z had Chicken Tikka, and both were delicious! And just like that, it was time to bid farewell to our stay at Manzil Downtown.
Our overall experience at Manzil Downtown was a very good one. The rooms are a good enough size, especially the bathroom, but the hospitality was excellent. Staff were always on hand, ready to help and wanting to interact with Master Z, bringing him crayons and paper to entertain himself with before meals.
The pool is a great space for adults, with lounging area and shaded refreshments section. However, I would have liked it to be more child friendly. There wasn’t a Kid’s swimming pool or a Kid’s club at the hotel, though there was a shallow seating area inside the pool which was deep enough for Master Z to stand in with his support jacket, so that’s where we mainly hung out as he isn’t swimming yet.
The food at Boulevard Kitchen was excellent, as well as the attention to presentation and detail. The services provided by the hotel, including the all important Wifi, was all to a very good standard and made for a comfortable stay. In terms of view and location, it is absolutely amazing. A stone throw away from the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa, it is ideal for tourists who want to explore the Downtown area.
Thank you Manzil Downtown for having us, and I look forward to staying with you again in the near future!

It’s a gorgeous hotel and I love The Courtyard to dinner and drinks!
Yes, definitely. Shame we couldn’t enjoy the Courtyard completely due to the heat and it being a smoking area.
