Love from London…

If you follow me on Instagram, you will already know that earlier this month, Mr Z, Baby Z and I left for London, for 3 days of sightseeing, shopping and slurping tea. Below is a short account of our lovely trip to London City!

Day 1:

On the first day, we set off by coach at 10 am, to arrive in London Victoria Coach Station by 1 pm. Our hotel was a 5 minute walk away, and we quickly freshened up to only set off again into the hustle bustle of London city. The first thing we did was purchase our oyster cards to be able to travel around the city on Tube and Bus. The underground travel system is truly incredible and the tube was something we heavily relied on for the entirety of our trip. On the first day, we visited Oxford Street, where plenty of shopping was done, along with plenty of admiring and swooning at the architecture and interior of Liberty London. We then arrived at Piccadilly Circus by bus, and walked to Trafalgar Square, where Baby Z seemed to really enjoy looking at the birds. We headed off to Leicester Square where we enjoyed a scrumptious Italian meal that consisted of heart-shaped ravioli until finally heading home and collapsing into our beds.

Day 2:

We set off bright and early, walking straight to Buckingham Palace. We enjoyed a lovely walk through Hyde Park and arrived by tube at the Tower Bridge. Lunch consisted of a quick subway and fish & chips whilst admiring the bridge and River Thames, along with the Shard. We then headed on to Mr Z and my favourite bridge in London: the Millennium Bridge. St. Paul’s cathedral looked as regal as ever, and we took a quick pit stop in Tate Modern to avoid the drizzle of rain. Since Baby Z was getting rather cranky at this point, it was our que to head back to the hotel for his nap time. Once he was refreshed, we headed off to Kings Street to enjoy a lovely dinner at Pizza Express with an even lovelier friend who brought Baby Z a dinosaur toy, amongst other things, that he is currently obsessed with. We ended the day with a stroll along Embankment, watching the London Eye and Westminster in all its glory during night, lit up to look even more magnificent.

Day 3:

On the last day of our London stay, we first made a quick trip to Covent Garden where we enjoyed breakfast including a hot tasty soup and treats in a traditional french tea room. Refreshed, we once again set off to Oxford Street for a spot of more shopping (that’s why we came to London, right?) and lunch before slowly making our way back to Victoria Coach station. The long journey back home involved a cranky toddler who finally slept just as we were about to enter Leicester, and with that bombshell, our love affair with London came to an end…until we meet again.

The entire trip was a whirlwind, but we thoroughly enjoyed every aspect that London had to offer. The only complaint I have is for the London tube stations that had no elevators or escalators, which were the majority, and this meant carrying an *incredibly heavy* toddler (plus shopping bags, a baby bag and snacks) in his buggy up numerous flights of stairs every time we commuted through the Tube. I am however prepared to forgive and forget on the the basis of how beautiful and enchanting Liberty London was!

I love your photos! Both my husband and I spent some time living in London before we met each other and way before we had our son. One day we’ll have to show him the sights too!

Looks as though you had a lovely time. I must admit we tend to avoid the tube when we have a pushchair just because it is such a pain – it must be a nightmare for those who need a wheelchair.

That said London really is a city that has it all – such a fun place to be.

Yes, I definitely don’t think I will be making the same mistake again by taking the stroller with me, and it really made me wonder too how frustrating it must be for wheelchair users. Apart from that though, the trip was really amazing! Thanks for reading! ?
