They are absolutely everywhere, these Embroidered Poplin Shirts, and I could not be happier. The over-sized button up shirt with full length sleeves that scream Laid-back Sophistication is perfect for Muslimahs wishing to stay on trend without having to layer a bazillion pieces to remain modest. It is a fashion statement on it’s own, and with the unique array of embroidery and stripes that you can choose from, you are sure to find one that exudes your individual spirit. 

Now when I think of Poplin Shirts, only ZARA comes to mind. However, I actually picked this beauty up from my trip to Global Village last year from the China Pavillion. The pavillion has the cutest clothes boutiques, and at great prices, though they are not so easy to bargain with! I knew I simply had to make an OOTD out of this purchase, and what better place to do that in other than the regal Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai?

I must admit, I could have definitely spent more time planning this outfit, and let’s not even bring more attention to those flats I am wearing, but Comfort is Key during Holidays, and this seemed like a good idea to go out in, if not so perfect for a fashion photo shoot. However, the shirt really is such a statement piece, that it can carry off pretty much anything else.

I paired the shirt with faded Black Velvet Jeans that are SO soft, it’s unreal. I also opted for a Red Hijab to bring out the beauty of the embroidered red florets on the shirt. I absolutely love the over-sized fit and almost silky material of this shirt. I did find that the stiff embroidery would create strange creases across the shirt when sitting down or so, but I will easily overlook that factor in comparison to it’s comfort and chicness.

So here I am, in my Embroidered Poplin Shirt, posing at the camera in the most beautiful location in Mumbai. Sometimes staring off in to the distance, other times concentrating on my ring, and more often than not trying not to laugh at the antics of my two year old in the background *and failing terribly*. Remind me to leave that dude in the hotel room next time I decide to do an OOTD photo shoot!
